On 14th March, Bishop Richard came come to Biggleswade Deanery on one of his Lent visits to Deaneries.  He spent the morning at St Mary's Church, Eaton Socon with Deanery Clergy & Readers reflecting on St Paul's letter to the Philippians.  After lunch he drove over to St Peter's Church in Wrestlingworth to join a group of about 20 clergy and laity who were to go on a short pilgrimage with him.  After another reading from Philippians and prayers the group set out on its pilgrimage over the fields to Sutton.

Whilst the others made their way to All Saints Church for refreshment, Bishop Richard called into Sutton Lower Church School accompanied by the Rector of Sutton, the Rev'd Gill Smith, and the Rural Dean, the Rev'd Lindsay Dew.  They were welcomed by the Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Stevens and the assembled children, along with the staff of the school.

Rejoining the rest of the group, the Bishop had only a short time to sample the tasty refreshments before it was time for a further reading and prayers before the group returned to Wrestlingworth, by another route.  Here the group said final prayers before departing to reflect on the lessons from the pilgrimage.

In the evening, Bishop Richard repeated the morning reflections for lay members of the Deanery in St Mary the Virgin Church, Potton.  This was followed by Compline.

Nov 2013: At the the Synod meeting on 15th October we were given presentations from 7 parishes, all for worthy causes.  With such a choice, Synod members were faced with a difficult choice, but by a narrow margin the proposal for a group of young people to visit southern Africa to work with the "Hands at Work" charity to those living in poverty won the vote.  More details can be found on the Projects page.

We have said goodbye to the Revd Canon Lynda Klimas, who was honoured for her work by being made an Honorary Canon of St Albans Cathedral on 9th November.

We look forward to the arrival of the Revd Huw Davies to be the new Rector of Sandy.  He will be instituted by the Bishop of St Albans on 5th December at St Swithun's Church.

Within Biggleswade Deanery is the Sue Ryder Hospice of St John's, Moggerhanger.  The post of Chaplain has been vacant for several months since the departure of the Rev'd Carole Hough.  In February her replacement, Chere Hunter, will be licensed by the Bishop of Bedford.  Chere is a Reader and we welcome her to the Deanery for this important task of pastoral care to the dying and their relatives, as well as those who care for them
